"I Probably Can...."
When our two kids Mishael and Japeth were still in their pre-school age, I told them that we all have our individual tasks. Theirs is to go to school and me to work. My husband Oliver was working abroad during those years and we have a yaya to be with our kids. Japeth, our youngest asked me why is it his classmate's moms are always there at school and he is the only one without a mom there. "You're one big kid", I told him, and "you can do it". Now, our two kids are in Grade 8 and 3rd year high school. I realized somehow, that in the process, they will eventually overcome the feeling of being alone and arrive little by little to a realization that "they probably can...". My husband and I are managing a school and I see myself on the young parents whose kids are in the pre-school and primary level. One parent shared to me that she feels guilty every time she will say goodbye to her little 5 year old boy. She thought of giving up her job just to physically present for him. Most of the time, her kid is already asleep when she arrives home and if not, there'll be little time left for them to work on his school assignments.
To parents in the same shoes, the truth is, without knowing it, your kid will grow up and you'll be amazed of the new learning your young kids acquires everyday. It can be a new song, a new school best friend, a story about his teacher, a drawing, all sort of kids stuff. If you believe in yourself that you have something in you that is genetically transferred in them at the moment of his conception, all is well at the end of the day. Trust yourself and be a friend to his teachers and the mothers of your kid's classmates and to all others that somehow bring influences to them. And you'll see...your kid will discover..."I probably can..."
Until next time. God Bless
